Easter

Sadly I forgot to document Caleb's first Easter Egg hunt so no pictures from that one. Our neighbor hood always does a big Easter Egg hunt and since we live across from the social director our back yard is used for the 1 - 4 year olds.  We were told of the tradition when we moved in to the house and asked if it was okay if we continued the tradition.  We gave Caleb a bucket from his daddy's workshop and the little man went to town picking up eggs and putting them in his basket.  We didn't have to train him on how to do this, but we did have to direct him toward the eggs.  He was adorable.

I tried to get some wonderful shots in the morning before Chris had to head to church to sing in the choir but as soon as Caleb saw his car,  it was over.  No pictures could be had, all he wanted to do was play with the car.

See not so happy to take a picture, but notice my fabulous lime green tree in the back ground

Please Mom can I take the car down the stairs?

Please?

When I don't get what I want I get really shy and stomp my feet.  I'm learning about obedience.

Now can we go inside and play with Max?

We went to the first service and watched Daddy sing, he was wonderful.  When we went to pick up Caleb from the nursery he was all about his Daddy.
such a sweet snuggle, and he seems a bit tired here

 yep, I'm a daddy's boy.

Here is the whole family.  Shortly after this picture Chris had to go back inside for the second service and Caleb threw a fit.  He did not want Daddy to leave, definitely the worst fit he has thrown yet.

Face Plant

It is rarely a good thing when you get a call from day care during the middle of the day.  This time Caleb fell while playing outside.  He was carrying (or pushing) a toy and walking on the concrete and fell, landing on his face.  Yep he has had his first face plant. It looks awful but luckily he is in good spirits and the ladies did a great job of cleaning him up and applying lots of ointment. But it looks like he may have a black eye tomorrow.

I wanted to document his poor facial injury so I took some pictures outside after dinner tonight (hence the messy shirt as neither he nor I are clean when he eats).

While we were playing outside Daddy got home, so we excitedly ran to greet him and Caleb thought it would be fun to sit in the drivers seat.
The guys enjoying a snack (pre dinner for Chris and post dinner for Caleb).  Yay for cereal.

Caleb loves to be chased.  So he took Max's ball (he was already carrying the stick around when he grabbed the ball) and started running away from Max so that he would chase him.  Poor Max just wants the ball.

The boys all serious.  Chris had just gotten home from work and was finishing up a conversation with someone, thus the phone.

So I haven't taken barely any pictures of myself but while I was still looking decent from work I told Chris to snap a few shots of the belly.  So here I am at 28 weeks.

On the left I was talking to Caleb, in the middle I do not actually have a double chin but I'm making a funny face (and sorry about the shirt turns out in the sunlight it is slightly see through).

**Update:  There was no bruising the next day just a bit of swelling, which I think was caused by him sleeping on it.  Now there is just a scab

Calebisms and Beach

Caleb is becoming much more verbal which is crazy, so i thought I would share some of his favorite words or gestures.

~ He has mastered please and more in sign language and uses them both often. These used to be reserved for situations involving food but have now been broaden to include all situation and typically used appropriately.  For instance, tonight we were playing in the back yard and Caleb wanted to be on the drive way/ side porch so he walked to the gate and indicated that he wanted it open (some grunting, pointing and hanging on the door were involved) when I said he he proceeded to sign please over and over again.  When I said no again and walked away he threw a mini fit and eventually got over it.  Oh the terrible twos are going to be fun (sarcasm for those of you challenged in sarcasm detection, like some of my students)

~ He loves shoes, and even says shoes.  Now there is a chance I know he is saying shoes because I have heard him repeat the word after me, and then say the same word while holding his shoes but I think it is pretty clearly shoes.  He has this tiny little voice that doesn't match his adventurous boy attitude, but is adorably cute.  So if his shoe falls off he will bring it to you saying shoes and excitedly hand it to you then sit down so you can put it on for him.  He loves shoes

~ He started saying down the other day.  A super handy word, he uses it when we are playing upstairs and he wants to go down stairs.  When he is sitting in his highchair and is done thus wanting to get down.  When he needs help getting down because he climbed on top of the table and is a bit stuck (yep this has happened in a flash a few times)

~ Caleb loves to climb, that means bookshelves, chairs, tables, couches, stairs (duh) basically anything and everything.  He has become very proficient at climbing onto a big person chair.  He looks like a gymnast using his upper body strength to heave himself up

~ My favorite Caleb word is Daddy.  He takes his time saying the first syllable and sometimes forgets to say the second one.  I can say to Caleb, "lets go find Daddy" and he proceeds to say Daddy over and over again until he finds him.  so sweet

~ Caleb knows a bunch of his body parts, so you can say "where is your ___________" and he he points to it.  He knows mouth, chin, nose, eyes, hair, ears and belly all the time and sometimes he knows feet and hands.  He gets so proud that he knows them.  If you ask him where his nose is he points to his, the touches mine and then goes to touch Chris'.  Lately he has started saying nose and eyes when he points to them.

~Of course he can say ball.  He is a boy.

~ Not sure if I mentioned these or not but Caleb says No and Mine often.  Annoyingly so.

~ I think he knows Elmo.   It sounds alot like mommy but ends in o instead think "Mommmmm - mo".  Not quite sure that it really is supposed to be elmo but I think it is.

I am beginning to wonder if his words are as articulate as I think they are or if I just know their meaning contextually.

For Spring Break we headed down to Panama City.   My friend Big Jen the Punisher was able to join us with her husband and son.  She blogged about the trip and posted some fabulous pictures, so feel free to check out her blog.  We spent a lot of time chillin and relaxing, just enjoying being with friends.  Since PC is on central time it meant Caleb and I were awake at 5 most mornings, so we went on a walk as soon as the sun came up around 6:15 ish.

It was so much fun seeing Chris and Caleb on the beach together. I will not be posting an pictures of myself as the few that were taken depict me as a beached whale and I promise I am not that huge.  Although someone asked me today if I am due this month.  The answer is no, I'm due in 3 months.  I have a large belly but on the plus side I haven't started swelling and I'm currently not carrying extra weight in my face.  Woo hoo.

This is my favorite, they are both enjoying playing in the sand so much.

Chillin in a chair like a big boy, but still a baby sucking in thumb.

Don't take my picture.  Is this foreshadowing of the future?

Hanging out in the shade with my shovel

Chris took Caleb to the water, which he was terrified of.  If Chris' arm weren't around him he would be backing away.  He was cute though as he was curious but also scared of the waves

If you look closely you can see all three of us.

This was my view as we all sat under the umbrella watching the waves and the people

We found a cool playground for little man to explore and play.  He took off running shortly after this picture.

Why go up the stairs when you can go up the slide?

And he's off.
