Baby Furniture

We bought a dresser to go with the crib and we were so excited when it came in. Chris assembled it immediately, which by the way is a bigger feat than I realized. These things come in a million pieces and are harder to assemble than the IKEA stuff. However when he finished he realized it was not perfect. Two of the drawers are not the same color as the rest of the dresser and the top has a small crack in the corner. Well we finally heard back from the company that they are sending us new draw fronts and a new top. Now Chris gets to take it apart again. Here are some pictures of our almost perfect dresser.

27 weeks

Sorry it has been a while for a new belly picture. I was going to post a picture last week, but I had some sort of stomach bug and felt awful. So far this week I am doing much better, just in time for us to head to the beach. Chris and I are taking a vacation to Charleston as soon as I finish this post.

I made a cake

So I know this isn't baby related but I thought I would share it anyway. Two weekends ago we helped throw a surprise anniversary party for my in-laws to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Tonya and Ryan came up with the wonderful idea months before hand and we all worked to make it happen. So since summer school is out and I don't have a lot going on I decided to make my first attempt at a wedding cake. So here it is decorated and the final product. And it tasted good too. I had a lot of fun, but I'm not sure if I want to make a business out of it just yet. I think I need more practice.

We Registered! (posted by Chris)

We registered! And as usual Mikki was in true form. Not only did she have uniformly uncoordinated notions of what each element of the room was to look like, but she again had no explanation as to why. I say again because, if you didn't know, she did likewise while registering for our wedding: "that looks good in red!"; "that has a blue personality, don't you think?"...no, I don't think. In fact, I think elements should coordinate, but I digress...

We first registered at The Baby's Room (on George Busbee Pkwy just off Barrett Pkwy--behind the Holiday Inn near Town Center Mall). Lots of cool things there...I will elaborate further.

Next, we registered at Baby's R Us. Many essentials all in one place here...plus a few things that excited Mikki.

And last we registered at Target. Again more essentials...here is where I forced Mikki to coordinate like a normal human being.

Nursery Furniture

I finished summer school last week and as result I have now found myself with lots of extra time. So I started reading some baby books (Natural Childbirth, The art of breast feeding, and Baby Bargains). Majority of my time has been spent reading Baby Bargains, which is a book filled with excessive information about everything to do with Babies. The book reviews all brands and specific lines of cribs, mattresses (turns out they are sold separately), strollers, car seats (infant, convertible, and booster), bedding, etc ... So after reading this book I realized I need to buy nursery furniture. Turns out at most stores you have to order the furniture and it could take up to 12 - 16 weeks to be delivered. Which means we have to order it now to insure that it is here before the baby.

So we found some furniture we liked at Target, it got good reviews by the book. Yesterday we went to see it in person and it was on sale. Woo Hoo. So now we have a crib (pictured above) and a changing table (not sure if we will keep this or not). Then this morning we found a dresser to match on line and ordered it. Yay.

Now we have to decide where the nursery is going to be, at this point we are thinking the loft and moving our bedroom upstairs, but not sure.
