Caleb has arrived!

Caleb Christopher arrived this afternoon at 1:51 pm...he weighs 8 lbs 10 oz, and measures 20 3/4 inches. Below are pictures of our latest addition to our Mardis family. Both he and Mom are doing well and resting from the big day.

40 weeks and counting

Today is my official due date. And it looks like I will be going beyond 40 weeks. I feel large and ready to go, but evidently Caleb is not so ready yet. If I think about it I'll post a picture later. I have a doctors appointment today and then I'll see how we progress from here. Luckily my doctor doesn't induce until 42 weeks because Chris and I still very much want a natural birth.

We officially moved into our house. We started sleeping there on Saturday night. I told Chris, now I have to be a real adult again. It was so nice staying with his parents, because his mom did everything for us. So last night I had planned a fabulous dinner, however after sneezing every five minutes or so all day long, I was exhausted. So our dinner plans were changed to pizza. Hopefully tonight I will feel like cooking that wonderful dinner.

We have enough boxes unpacked to feel like it is our place. The kitchen is functioning and clean thanks to my mom, Carolyn, Linda and Tonya. Oh and Bill and Chris who installed the microwave and oven. We only have two boxes left in our bedroom, which I think Chris almost unpacked them both last night.

A sweet friend from Church, Paulette, painted the nursery (it was pink), so that is set up for the most part. The majority of stuff is unpacked and some is still in bags in the closet.

Max doesn't quite know what to do. I went to grab something out of my car this morning, and left the door open. I told max to stay and went trough the garage (currently filled with trash and large yard/workshop stuff) to my car. Max is usually really good about staying in place when commanded to. However I got to my car opened the door and I heard him trotting over to find me. I think he is worried he will be left somewhere. Not quite sure if this is home or not. He is enjoying running around the house trying to find one of us, especially since the house is much larger than our previous place. And he loves the large fenced in yard. Hopefully he will realize soon that this is home, and no one is going to leave him. I'm a bit worried how he will respond to us being gone for the birth.

We started moving in

On Saturday some kind friends came over to help Chris unload the Pod and the rental truck filled with stuff from our storage unit. I helped direct traffic (since only a few boxes were labeled and no one had been to the house before). The guys worked efficiently and tirelessly and got everything moved into the house much quicker than we expected. They had actually moved everything in by 11 am. Tonya, Linda and my mom helped unpack the kitchen (which is such a big help). It's not done but there is much progress. So here are some picks of the house.

You can see the kitchen is still in progress
Yep still in progress

The living room is the most put together of all the rooms

Here is the most recent picture, the belly at 39 weeks. Yep that means I have 7 days left (assuming he decides to come on time and not a bit late). I am feeling quite large and swollen (aka retaining water like its my job). And I'm still teaching, because I don't know when he will be coming. I'm wondering if the belly will get bigger or not.

JV volleyball

Here are some pics from last weekend at the JV Volleyball tournament.

This is me at 37 weeks
We are the Champions

We are home owners (again)

We closed on our new house today. We are moving some stuff in tomorrow, a bunch on saturday and the remainder of stuff on the following weekend. So we will move ourselves into the house when it is ready (which might be before the baby and it might not be, we'll see).

Here are some pics of the house.

36 week belly

Here is a picture from last weekend. I keep meaning to take more pictures, because I am just getting bigger by the day. All that to say I 'll post another one soon, but in the mean time here is the belly at 36 weeks.

Yep that is me. I had a parent come and introduce herself to me and ask about how her daughter is doing. And she said to me, so my daughter tells me your pregnant... congrats. I wanted to respond, at this point lady anyone can comment on the fact that I'm pregnant. Trying to be polite makes it seem like you think I'm always this big.

This weekend was the last and final volleyball tournament. We ended the season as the JV Cobb County Champions. The girls were awesome and played so well, and they were classy about it. Just love them. It was my first weekend as a solo coach. I'm the assistant and the head coach along with the other assistant had to go out of town for a funeral, so it was just me. The parents were sweet, checking on my and making sure I wasn't in labor. They also surprised me with a cake for Caleb and a present. Such wonderful parents and players.

We close on our house on Wednesday, Oct 7. Chris is going to move things in this weekend and next weekend. We are going to take it kind of slow with moving stuff in and if we get settled before the baby great, if we don't then we will stay at Bill and Linda's a bit longer. They have been super sweet and gracious to us.

Had my last baby shower today, and I think I now have everything. Well most of it is still in bags and boxes but it seems like all the stuff I was worried about needing was given to us. We have wonderful friends and family.
