School is out for the summer and I am so excited to hang out with Little Man all summer. He has changed so much over the last few months and is now on the move. I can't imagine how much he will change before I go back to school. By the way it turns out my maternity leave is/was twice as long as summer break. Holy Cow is that ridiculous. My county has adopted a new calendar for this school year (which I am way excited about) in which we have a week long fall break, a week for Thanksgiving, 2 weeks for Christmas, a week long winter break in February and a week for Spring Break. These breaks will fall during much needed breaks, for teachers and students. As a result of these extra breaks, we have are starting school back during the first week in August, which means I start back in July. Crazy
Here is a picture from mid April of Caleb and his Daddy.
Okay now on to Caleb. Oh how he is growing. Lets see if I can recap the last two months.
~ He is so responsive. He smiles and laughs often. But he doesn't smile for just anyone, he has to know you.
~ He can crawl now. However, it isn't a normal crawl he uses his right knee and his left foot. Not sure exactly why. Sometimes I think he is so slow, but if I take my eyes off him he will be across the room. As of right now he doesn't crawl much if I'm on the floor with him.
~ He loves to stand. It is his favorite thing to do. He has gotten really good at pulling himself up on almost anything. And he is getting a lot stronger/more sturdy, as he isn't falling as much.
~ He started eating solids. Woo Hoo. I wanted to wait until he was 6 months old. We started with rice cereal which he disliked so much that he would suck his thumb in an effort to stop us from feeding him. After a few days of trying rice cereal and wasting all that fabulous breast milk, I mixed the rice cereal with pears and he loved it. We went slow with food, only trying one new food a week. Caleb really enjoyed eating and after two weeks I added solid food at breakfast and lunch. Which made a huge difference in his temperament at day care. He was so much calmer when I picked him up (aka not starving). He seemed to play more and overall enjoy himself much more. A week later we added dinner also. After Chris took him to the doctor for his 6 month check up the doctor said we could increase the quantity of food and Caleb was ready to start eating #2 food. Now he is up to three meals a day with a larger quantity for dinner. He wants to feed himself, but can't figure it out. He puts everything in his mouth, and I mean everything but it seems that he can't figure out food yet.
~ Caleb has started crying when he gets frustrated. That means crying when you take away a toy, or when you stop him from getting into something.
