Pics from the last few weeks

I'm not much for words today so I'll just let the pictures with a few captions speak for themselves.

stupid salt shaker.  I picked it up and all the salt fell out.  Time to find a new one, and the guacamole was awesome.

Our little engineer.  He has started moving a chair anywhere in the downstairs he needs to reach or see something.  It is wonderful and frustrating

Okay now here come a bunch of running shots of Caleb.  I couldn't decide which one I liked the most and didn't feel like putting together a colleague.  So I put all of them here.

His new favorite activity is playing in the sink.  This is not one of my favorite activities.  My new word to describe Caleb is agile.  I think this picture does a good job of showing that.

This picture is too good to not put it in again.
My silly boy

9 months

This post is about a week late.  I haven't posted about just Micah in a while and he is growing so quickly I thought he deserved  one and I would like to document these milestones.

Last I posted Micah had just started crawling.  Well now he is all over the place.  He is crawling, climbing stairs, kneeling, pulling up to standing, cruising (moving sideways while holding on to something) and taking a few forward steps with his walker.

He loves to be standing.  Unfortunately this means that Caleb's previously inaccessible toys are all in perfect reach, for example his train table.  I call Micah baby Godzilla because he keeps tearing down all of Caleb's toys.

He now has 5 teeth.  This is astounding to me as big bro was one year when he got his first two.  I have also missed all of the teething signs until the tooth was just  below the surface days from busting through, oh well.

Micah takes two naps a day and sleeps about 12 hours at night.  The first nap is unpredictable as this one is often cut short so that we can get out of the house for a play date or to run errands.  Most days he is super flexible and makes up for it with a longer afternoon nap but every once in a while we have a rough day with two short naps (1 hour would be short a normal nap is 2 to 3 hours).

He is now eating three meals a day and nursing every 4 hours which ends up being 4 or 5 feedings a day.  He is going so long between nursing that I have a lot more freedom.  But feeding him baby food three times a day is time consuming, especially when I'm trying to convince Caleb to eat food and not play.  I decided to try making my own baby food and I have loved it.  I was too intimidated and overwhelmed with working to try it with Caleb at first. I waited till the summer at which point Caleb had been eating jarred food for two months or so and when he didn't like my baby food (what baby actually likes green beans with no other flavors added) I got my feelings hurt and decided it wasn't worth it.  But this time Micah is gobbling it up and I think it is fun and satisfying.  I also decided to make large quantities of baby food so that I don't have to do it very often.  By large quantity think 16 to 18 ice cube trays at a time.  Oh and this week Micah has started eating some solids because he is dying to feed himself. I also discovered that he is a master at eating cheerios and gold fish (this one was an accident since big bro shared his while at the grocery store and then Micah demanded to have more).

Micah has always been a sweet, smilely, laid back baby which he still is but he is getting more vocal about what he wants.  He squeels when I tell him "no you can't play with the dog food" as I move him away from it.  When big bro takes a toy away he grunts or screams.  The other day I saw him crawling towards the stairs and as I was coming to get him the stinker speed up.  It is so fun to see his personality coming out.

Pics from the last two weeks

I have been obsessed with reading for the last week and a half.  And I must say it was awesome.  I didn't check facebook or read any blogs.  I checked email just so I wasn't slammed and to do a bit of work stuff.  But for the most part every moment the boys were busy (think sleeping) I was reading.  I even woke up before them so I could start my day with my book and some coffee, the perfect morning.  But sadly they books are done and I am lost.  Not sure what to read next but I have to find something.  Although I must say my duties around the house suffered a bit.  Oh in case you are interested I was reading the Hunger Games, our roomie brought the book home and left it on the table so I started reading it.

Not too much happening these days but we are having fun.

This is my favorite picture of Caleb.  You can see his sweetness, and his serious side
Caleb is so fun these days. I am learning more and more about his personality.  Sometimes I think all kids do (fill in the blank) and then I realize nope just my kid.  So here are some examples.
~ When I tell him to go and get in the car he will correct me that it is a van. He is not being sassy but is simply correcting me.  I think the word that best describes this is meticulous.
~ He pushes the dining room chairs all over the house to reach things, light switches, the bathroom sink, the kitchen sink, the higher shelves of the pantry, etc...
~ He has started stacking stuff.  The other day he moved the dining room chair to the kitchen sink then put his little chair on top so he could reach the sink.  He put the stool on top of his little table and stood on top proclaiming he was on top of a mountain.
~ He can climb all the way up the outside of the stairs.  This one is freighting but also impressive.
~ A common phrase for two weeks was: "I get out of bed all my by own". No matter how many times I corrected him that he can say, all by my self or all on my own he refused to get it correct.  It was funny to have him adamantly state that he was correct.  He really is my child.
~ I told him he was handsome and this was his response: " um huh, yes, just like Daddy.  You are beautiful and Micah is handsome too."

Micah loves to kneel and just this week started pulling up to standing.  Watch out world here he comes.

Such a sweet boy, if only mommy could remember to put a bib on him.
We have started playing Hide n go seek.  It is kind of awesome.  We count to 10 then say ready or not here I come.  We usually play inside, you know a bit safer but on nice days we play outside also.  This is his favorite spot to hide.  Caleb was very upset when I went to snap the picture because I wasn't counting, oops.

This was our mountain of pinestraw we ordered for our island.  Caleb was so confused when it was gone.

Check out his teeth.  He has 4 in all now.  The top two are growing in at separate times which makes him look silly but I love it.  Such a smilie guy.
For fun today I busted out the finger paint but he kept calling it "pinter faint".  In general he has a great vocabulary and impresses me often with how quickly he learns a new word or phrase.  I start to think he is older than he is then he has a silly phrase like this.

I told him to smile. Oh silly boy.  Can you see where he decided to taste it?

Happy baby with food on his mouth. Sadly this is kind of clean.
another heart throb in the making
