I don't know if you can tell, but he isn't sucking on the pacifier. Which means if falls out every two seconds or so. Some days when this happens he cries until you put the pacifier back in his mouth and the cycle stars all over again. Other days it falls out and he doesn't notice.
Oh and a bit of back story. I tried giving him a pacifier when he was born and he did not like it. I tried again for a bit. Then gave up on them because we were having trouble with breast feeding and I wasn't feeding him often enough and I was trying to read his cues and was concerned that a pacifier was interfering with my ability to read him. Then he would bring his hands to his mouth kind of gumming on them and sometime sucking so I tried a pacifier again. That was a few weeks ago.
So does this mean my child isn't a pacifier kid? Do I have the wrong type of pacifier (I've tried two other types which he had even less interest in)? Did I ruin his ability to take a pacifier by not trying harder earlier? Does it even matter if my child uses a pacifier?
Notice my hand bracing in case the little man looses his balance or Max hears a door bell.
It seems that just we I think we are getting the hang of this and we have some semblance of a pattern established, it changes. At least I can't be mad at Caleb cause he is just too cute. He has started smiling. It is wonderful. Now this does not happen all the time but it is nice to see that he is getting more interactive.
In other news Caleb can now roll from his stomach to his back. Still working on going the other way, which it looks like will be quite some time (those arms keep getting in the way).

SO cute with his serious face. and judah has the big boy outfit too! judah is NOT a paci kid. sometimes i wish he was because i have seen them be quick fixes for fussy babies, but its one less thing we will have to "break" him of in the future or remember to always pack i guess. he liked them for a while the first month or 2 and then we bought abotu 12 more so of course he stopped cold turkey right after we opened them all.
ReplyDeleteHe is so cute and alert. He's always sleeping when I see him.
